Nice air to air session today with the German Navy Lynx in tiger markings for the NTM2025. The Lynx feet will be replaced by NH90 Sea Tigers in the upcoming years.

Super Lynx Mk 88A 83+10 of the Marinefliegergeschwader 5, the rotary wing unit of the German Navy. This summer, it received a tiger colour scheme for the NATO Tiger Meet in 2025, held at Beja, Portugal last September.

Fokker S-11.1 PH-SLO in Royal Netherlands Air Force colours. It flew there as E-38 since 1951 for elementary flying training. During the late 1960s it joined Vliegtuigsquadron 9 of the Royal Netherlands Navy, and from 1970 it was serialled 198 until it was finally retired in 1973. It became PH-SLO in 1975 at stationed at Stadtlohn, (West-)Germany. In 2010 it moved to Teuge. The new owner will restore the aircraft back to flying condition (been grounded since 2024) and move it to Lelystad.

Already sitting on a pole for nearly 60 years at Centennial Park in Moncton NB, this CF-100 Canuck has been under recent restoration. It has now returned in shiny condition. More info on this aircraft in the image alt.

This Royal Canadian Air Force CF-100 serialled 18488 was built as Mk 4B and first flew on 31 August 1955. It served with 428 squadron, and was converted to Mk 5 in 1957. In the 1960s, 18488 transferred to the EWU (Electronic Warfare Unit) at St Hubert, and in this image the 'Clunk' is sporting that unit's markings on the engine cowling. The EWU would later be redesigned 414 (EW) squadron, but at that stage 18488 was already retired, carrying out its last flight on 20 April 1966. On 14 August that same year, the aircraft was unveiled at Centennial Park in Moncton, New Brunswick where the aircraft can still be viewed.

Defence Minister states RAF has no tranche 3A aircraft. Incorrect. All tranche 3 are in fact 3A. Tranche 3 was split into 3A and 3B. Latter was cancelled in the end.

The NF-5B was mainly used for the so-called Theatre Operational Conversion Course. New pilots that just graduated in Canada (until 1979/1980) and the USA received this course to get used to the European theatre and weather, before moving on to the operational squadrons.

Northrop/Canadair NF-5B K-4011 of 316 squadron. The Koninklijke Luchtmacht/Royal Netherlands Air Force operated 30 NF-5Bs and 75 single-seat NF-5As, built by Canadair between 1969-1972. The last ones were retired in 1991. Only a few remain preserved in the Netherlands.

Lockheed TF-104G Starfighter D-5803 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. This is the only dual-seat Starfighter that can still be seen in the Netherlands. Another (D-5805) is preserved in Canada, painted in RCAF colours.

Spectacular view at #Schiphol last weekend. The smoke plume comes from a fire in a shed housing caravans and RVs, some 2 km behind that hangar. Air traffic was not affected due to a favorable wind.

Around 2030 the #luftwaffe will retire their last Tornados. Some of the WSOs will now convert to jet pilots in Australia. Last week, the air force chiefs of Germany and Australia, LtGen Holger Neumann and Air Marshal Stephen Chappell signed an agreement for this.

It could indeed be. They could still be useful in combination with other weapon systems that can address threats, while a rotating cannon can certainly be helpful to address incoming hostile drones. Unfortunately, German Tigers lack such a cannon.

The crew of Kampfhubschrauber Tiger (KHT) 74+64 goes inverted during a practice rehearsal. The fleet will be withdrawn early next decade, while being replaced by adapted H145 helicopters. Meanwhile, the Bundeswehr might look for a dedicated attack helicopter to be acquired at a later stage.

Following 3.5 years of renovation of their homebase, the Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 71 "Richthofen" returned to Wittmund on 17 July 2025. Construction works will continue until late 2026. See comments for a few more images.

Colonel Andersen, Commanding Officer of the Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 71 "Richthofen", leads a three-ship over WIttmund air base on 17 July 2025, marking the return of the unit to their home base following some 3.5 years of reconstructions. TaktLwG 71 "R" operated out of Laage air base during this period. While works have not been completed just yet, the rest of the wing will gradually return to Wittmund during the upcoming months. The QRA will continue to operate out of Laage until late 2026.

The Swedish Air Force Historic Flight operates a single SK 60. A few more that were retired by the air force last year, will be added to the fleet in the future. 60140 still has the old RM 9B engines.
