This has been a wonderful, delightful read, hitting me at perhaps just the right time. I wish I could send it back in time to myself five or ten years ago. Maybe I wouldn't have the perspective to properly appreciate it, but I think chapter 19 would have completely exploded my egg even then.

Got my hardbound copy of For Whom the Belle Tolls by @sea-ya-later.bsky.social today! This may be the most gorgeous book I have ever seen. It's also the book that has moved and inspired me more than any other.

Tetraethyl lead can't be uninvented either, but we (mostly) stopped using it because it was bad for us.
