Greetings... just migrated here from the bad place hoping we can rekindle some fash-free community...

Anyway, have a look at the first SDS compilation, released at a time when fascism was a mostly abstract concept used to populate industrial music lyrics:

Isabelle in 2013 on starting Nude:

"All the electro guys really behaving old-fashioned... Girls are just something nice to look at on or backstage... We wanted to do something differently and we already knew that “our” scene would probably open a shitstorm, but we really didn’t care at all"
Factoid: Detlef left the band soon after this and was replaced by Tim Kroker who was brought in as live percussionist for Front 242 after Sabotage supported the band during a European tour

:wumpscut: (Germany). Rudy Ratzinger's Dark Electro project that can't stop won't stop. Despite the project's popularity, :wumpscut: is a studio-only project and never tours. He cites the influence of Leæther Strip as his reason for making the transfer from DJing to recording music. #industrialmusic

Article on Panicsville, who made an appearance on the 1997 SDS compilation, Reticence
"Far beyond the territory of the catchy tune, 'sound art' encompasses practically everything that doesn’t fit into a definable category. Few acts use as much of this limitless space as Panicsville, an ongoing collaborative project founded in 1992 by composer and electronic musician Andrew Ortmann."
Panicsville proves how vast ‘sound art’ can be - Chicago Reader
Andrew Ortmann’s long-running, collaborative Panicsville project has traversed countless confounding musical paths across more than 30 years.

Not that I am coming out of retirement any time soon :)
There was a moment in the chat last night that got me thinking about this question this morning. I always went for the most new / deep cuts when I was a club DJ which didn't work for most, but ironically were I to play a set from back then now it would be fairly "mainstream." So much is subjective
Not gonna say too much because my experience is outdated and I've never streamed, but, these is a lot of assumptions that go into what is known or a "hit" that varies widely with audience. Also, is it what's new *to you* or *to your audience* and how much do you want to play to them or for you?
