One of my favourite days, of course...
Auction house says this one is signed ATBos, but gives no image of the signature... Somehow they know that this unknown painter was active at Amsterdam, strange! Pretty good portrait, 4000 Euro estimate. www.interencheres.com/art-decorati...
I would read it as "David", but hard to be sure...
Muller sale, 1926, lot 603: Bruges Master c. 1480, "Virgin and Child", panel, 36*29cm, 1000Fl. Turns out to be another image missing from my copy 👿This is an after / circle of Quentin Massys, known in different copies. Picture on the right is a different version but gives an idea...

Daily photo from my visit to the Museum Mayer van den Bergh: one of the may Jan Brueghel the Elder's in the collection, "Wedding dance", a small (27*37cm) oil on copper from 1596. Good composition and colouring, not the finest execution perhaps. And reflection in the glass...
Leigh Court Madonna sold for 101000 Euro through Interenchères!
Muller sale, 1926, lot 602: Adriaen Isenbrant, "Virgin and Child", panel, 63*41cm, c. 1520, 2300Fl. Image in catalogue, but has been removed from my copy :-( Sold in 2015 at Grisebach ("by Albert Cornelis") for an impressive 75000 Euro! rkd.nl/images/46118 www.grisebach.com/object-archi...

Daily picture from my visit to the Museum Mayer van den Bergh is once again one I couldn't completely capture (it's a house turned museum, not a modern oversized one): Pieter Brueghel II, "Census at Bethlehem", ca. 1610, 122*172cm. One of the better copies.
Don't forget: sale tomorrow of the Madonna of Leigh Court, by or close to Rafaël. 70,000 Euro, should have no problem selling. www.astedams.it/uk/auction-0...
The above description refers to the "Mocking of Christ" by a follower of Bosch and/or Jan van Scorel from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp (image below). vlaamsekunstcollectie.be/en/creators/... 2/2
Muller sale, 1926, lot 601 (counting started at 600): Jerome Bosch, "Mocking of Christ", panel, 68*53cm, other version in the Antwerp Museum. No image(!), sold for just 1200Fl (about 1/10th of yesterday's Oostsanen).

Reminds me of my favourite misheard lyric

"When the devil has sex
Then God it's heaven
This monkey's gone to heaven"
Daily picture from my visit to the Museum Mayer van den Bergh: a work not from the actual collection, but on permanent loan: Follower of Jerome Bosch, "Road to Calvary", 16th c., 107*149cm. Used to be attributed to Jan Mandijn. www.heritage-kbf.be/collection/r...
Muller sale, 1926, lot 1: Jacob Cornelisz van Oostsanen (before 1470-1533), "Portrait of Jacob Janssen Van der Aa, Lord Dossem", 1514, 29*21cm. Sold for 11500 fl, one of the more expensive lots. Now in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Twenthe collectie.rijksmuseumtwenthe.nl/detail/id/3d...
