This weekend, I camped overnight outside the burning Chiquita Canyon Landfill to stand with families who’ve been living in a public health disaster for years.
This vehicle will serve as a mobile Emergency Operations Center, helping our first responders coordinate directly from the field during wildfires, floods, and other disasters — so they can respond faster, communicate better, and keep our community safe.

City thanks Schiavo for mobile command unit funds
The city of Santa Clarita celebrated Thursday the delivery of a long-awaited resource intended to help the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department with its local emergency response: a mobile command unit.  [...

Yesterday we unveiled Santa Clarita’s brand-new Mobile Command Unit — funded by $1.5 million in state resources I secured to strengthen local emergency response
It’s critical @kaiserpermanente comes to the table to ensure the workers have a contract that eliminates wait times, wait lists and makes sure workers can afford to survive and keep up with the cost of living.

#FairContractNow
Standing with @unacuhcp workers - Nurses, RN midwives, physical therapist, nurse anesthetists, & more - #OnStrike for safe patient care! Some are fighting for a contract for a year+ and pay reductions as cost rise. These are the healthcare workers who care for us when we need them most. #unacuhcp
Every. Single. Bill. ✅

All 11 of our bills this year were signed into law! 💪

These new laws will help lower costs, protect survivors, strengthen healthcare access, and support our veterans. I’m so proud of what we accomplished together and grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. 🧡
A huge thank you to the SCV Senior Center and all our community partners who helped make this possible — and to everyone who joined us for the helpful information (and ice cream🍦)!
We had a great time at our 3rd Annual Senior Resource Fair at the Santa Clarita Senior Center! 🧡

Today we are taking politics out of Californian’s utility bills and putting an end to the use of ratepayer funds for the political and promotional benefit of IOUs. (1/2)
We honored two incredible heroes who call our community home; First Lieutenant Ken Placek and Technical Sergeant Donald “Cool” Kuehl who served our country in World War 2. Their courage, service, and sacrifice continue to inspire us to carry those values forward in our communities.
I had the pleasure of joining Coffee4Vets alongside our veterans, local leaders, and community members to celebrate 250 years of service by the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
Had a great time at the 22nd Annual Duck Dash today! 🦆💛

Thank you to the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center for hosting such a fun event that helps ensure families in our community have access to affordable and compassionate health care. And yes, we adopted 50 ducks to help the cause! 😁

Donald Trump is plotting to cut Social Security benefits for older Americans — after he promised during the campaign that he wouldn’t touch Social Security.

We must call it out and stop these cuts.
Big news! 🎉 Governor Newsom just signed three of our bills into law – supporting survivors of crime, bringing relief to families impacted by the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, and ensuring California continues its leadership in national defense. 💪 #CAleg

G’mar chatimah tovah to our Jewish community. Wishing you a meaningful fast and a joyful break-the-fast with friends, family, and community.
Californians send more tax dollars to the federal government than our state gets back, and more has been cut that threatens the lives of our #seniors, children and families. We need bipartisan solutions to reverse these painful cuts. We must do better.
As a member of the Health Committee and the Health Budget Subcommittee I’ve worked with my colleagues to ensure #California has stepped up to protect Californians, but we cannot do it without federal partnership.
Healthcare is slipping through the fingers of millions of Californians as the impacts of billions in #federal cuts start to be felt this month. I’m at a policy conference today discussing the threats to our hospitals, clinics and medicine research and development.
Service like this reminds us that when government, nonprofits, and community come together, we can provide dignity, compassion, and real solutions for those who need it most.
So proud to join Mayor Karen Bass, UCLA, and Hope the Mission for UCLA Volunteer Day! 💙💛

Together, we prepared meals and hygiene kits to support our unhoused neighbors and those in interim housing across Los Angeles.
Our 3rd Annual Senior Resource Fair is just around the corner—happening Thursday, October 9 at the SCV Senior Center at Bella Vida!

I’m proud to stand in solidarity with our Armenian neighbors and remain committed to uplifting and celebrating their contributions. 🇦🇲
From visiting St. Leon Armenian Cathedral in Burbank to meeting with leaders and community members across Glendale, the experience deepened my appreciation for Armenian heritage and the values of perseverance, family, and community that guide it.
I had the opportunity to join my colleagues for an educational tour hosted by the California Armenian Legislative Caucus Foundation,
Today, on Armenian Independence Day, I’m proud to honor the resilience, history, and enduring strength of the Armenian people.
