All 10 of my bills on the Governor’s desk were signed into law! Grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. That’s a wrap on the 2025 session!
John Burton was a giant in California politics — fearless, passionate, and unapologetically committed to fighting for the most vulnerable among us. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the policies he championed, and the generations of leaders he inspired. I will miss him deeply.
Today, members of the Assembly, Senate and our Congressional delegation came together to announce the introduction of a bill package in which California is answering the attack on democracy and working together to protect it. Hear my full remarks here: bit.ly/4fNZeSq

I had the chance to sit down with my constituent, Yom HaShoah honoree, and new mental health advocate Ruth Litwin.

One of the best parts of recess is getting to spend quality time in the district and connect with community members like Ruth—people doing meaningful work and making a difference.

Thank you so much for meeting with us today @gailpellerin.bsky.social . State issues matter - a lot - and Indivisible San Jose is here to help and support you as we can. @ginosartor.bsky.social @indivisible.org
Today, @ppmarmonte.bsky.social, the largest @ppfa.org affiliate in the country, has closed five health care centers.

The budget Congressional Republicans supported and sent to Trump to sign has effectively cut off access to critical health care services for thousands.

100+ students are in the Capitol with @clylp Sacramento Leadership Institute. Today’s activities include a visit to the floor to debate and vote on bills.

Seated at my desk is Joanna Perez an incoming junior at Desert Mirage HS. Hope today inspires you to return as a leg staffer or Assemblymember 🙂
Today we honor Juneteenth — a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black joy. It marks the end of slavery in the United States, and reminds us that the work of justice and equity is ongoing.
Today, we mourn his loss—but we also celebrate a life lived with integrity, empathy, and courage. Rest in power, Mike. Your passion and legacy won’t be forgotten.
From his tireless advocacy for workers and tenants to his unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive spaces, Mike’s legacy will continue to inspire all of us who were lucky enough to know him. His kindness and fierce dedication to social justice leaves an indelible mark on Santa Cruz.
I’m heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mike Rotkin today in Santa Cruz. Mike was a compassionate leader, devoted public servant, and beloved community member whose spirit and wisdom touched so many.
Happy Heavenly Father's Day to both my dad and my husband, Tom. 💙

It's fitting that Father's Day falls within Men's Health Month — a good reminder to check in with the fathers and father figures in your life.
Sending love to all, and holding space for those for whom this day is difficult.
This is an attack on democracy itself. We must reject political violence in all forms and stand united against hate.
As a California lawmaker, I’m heartbroken and horrified by the assassination of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a targeted, politically motivated attack. I pray for the recovery of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also shot in a separate incident.
Today, I watched in horror as US Senator
@padilla.senate.gov was violently pushed out of a press conference and handcuffed for asking questions, for demanding answers on behalf of his constituents. This is not democracy. This is not the America I love. I proudly stand with my Senator and my friend.
The YMCA Silicon Valley is a cornerstone of the community, providing an array of programs that meet the needs of the community.

Our kids need you and I’ll continue to be a voice in Sacramento to support you anyway I can

For ~80 years Walnut Creek Family & Women's Center has been survivors of domestic violence during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Thank you for joining @valor.us‬ lobby day and sharing what a lack of funding for survivor services will mean for you, our community and the state.
Joined @cawomenscaucus.bsky.social this morning to stand in solidarity with @ppfa.org and fight against proposed budget cuts, as outlined in the May Revise, to vital programs meant to support the health of women and children.
