And I found two therapists who helped me tremendously! But it made me wary of taking any kind of medication, ngl. Now I'm too scared to ask my doc for anti depressants again in fear of... I guess it just not helping at all? Oh well, rant over

having a therapist actually looking at my life (extreme bullying, SA, growing up poor, emotional immature parents etc) did not help at all. I also gained a lot of weight. Now BPD isn't as frown upon by therapists as it used to when I was a teen.

that barely made me function. Whatever therapist I had, I was strictly put on any kind of medication to "calm" me down. It made me extremely tired, I fell asleep a lot in school. And don't get me wrong, medication saves lifes! But being put on extreme anti-psychotics instead of 2/?

Over ten years ago (woah!) I was diagnosed with BPD. I was SH pretty bad and struggled so much. Having an answer for my extreme behavior es a blessing. But also a curse.

Back then, being diagnosed with BPD meant that any therapist would put you on heavy medication 1/?

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.
