but gonde is cozy bc she's here to enjoy the ride. by peers standards she is unmarriageable and at best a charity case by an overly soft father. but she still has the money and is still in their keeping.

so yeah it's ironic that of all her sisters gonde leans back and does the least possible to maintain her image bc what is there to maintain. who is there to please. bene hates her but her siblings love her too much that an outsider to the dansereaus like their mother would lose them too over it?

her mother probably lived quite well off of what hierosme (+ grandmummy evangeline) paid her. hierosme loved baby gonde to bits and gonde's mother didn't want to be dragged down by a child now that she's finally 'made it' financially so she was more than happy to leave her in his care.

if gonde ever saw her again i don't think she'd want to talk to her, let alone approach her, has a level of fear of how the woman would react seeing her. if the woman acted emotionally (keyword 'acted') gonde would be appalled. gonde expected better from her (the truth). don't pretend you care etc.

there is something to be said about gonde and 'convenience'. ive thought for sooo long so so long about the identity of her mother & regardless as to *how* gonde learns of her it's always something about how she left her thinking 'well, her father loves her as her own, and he paid me well enough'
