I love them, and by another name, they are key elements in the novel I'm writing.
Now read this thread from c0nc0rdance! Any thread by them is great.

There's so much to love about the Java Mouse-Deer (Tragulus Javanicus) in such a small package.

No bigger than a rabbit, they're the smallest living ungulates & probably resemble the ancestors of all ruminants more than any other species.

But let's look at their tiny blood cells!

🌎Pteroglossus azara

Marie Brennan is a great writer and well established, so READ THIS POST AND TAKE HEART, EVERYONE.

And be bloody-minded.

I'm definitely able to pound pavement in part because this is my full-time job.

But also, I am bloody-minded AF. Which is useful in this particular situation. (Even with my track record, I still sometimes get 20+ rejections on a story before it sells.)

The rikishi are taking-in the town and doing what we all do when in London.
Seeing the sights, admiring the parks, shopping on High Street, taking tea at Fortnum's, using the olde phonebox, eating Chinese, and having a terrific time.

Crunched some interesting data from a 1938 Buddhist book catalogue, 佛學圖書目錄. Of approximately 3467 books listed, nearly 3/4 were woodblock printed works. This old technology remained in widespread use through the modern era. crta.info/wiki/%E4%BD%...
A pie chart showing the numbers of items for each means of printing. Woodblock works at 2436, movable type at 990, lithography at 40, and electrotype at 1. Title page from the catalogue. Full text and data available on the CRTA via the link in the post text

On first blush it looks something like a tent caterpillar, but (a) there are several species of those and (b) I'm not sure if any are native to East Asia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tent_ca...
