I'm surprised the car makers aren't selling ads on our windshields yet.

Take a break from it.

If it's important, it will be there tomorrow.

NVIDIA funds OpenAI. OpenAI pays Oracle. Oracle buys NVIDIA chips.

We live in interesting times.

Two years ago today, Tim Cook's big bet, a device to lift him out of Steve Jobs' shadow and off his coattails, the $3,500 Vision Pro strap-on facial PC, went on sale.

Vision Pro's R&D outspent every other product launch in Apple's 50 years, combined.

In two years, it's sold fewer than 500K units.

One of the many things I like about Daredevil (2015-2018) is how bad ass they wrote the nurses.

And not just Claire, all of them. Over 3 seasons we find ourselves in hospital settings half a dozen times. The nurses and other women on staff are all absolute bosses, and I'm here for it.

Suggestion I read on the internet:

While password disclosure cannot be compelled by cops, biometrics can be.

If you prefer fingerprint unlock, use one other than you index finger. Cops can't compel disclosure of which finger you use, and repeat failures on the wrong one should lock your device.

Google's former CEO has always been a con man.

"AI is not in a bubble, because you are fundamentally automating the boring part of businesses like accounting or billing or product design or delivery, or inventory."

100% bullshit.

All of that stuff is already automated, you fucking ghoul.

"According to people familiar with Microsoft’s plans, the company is now reevaluating its AI strategy on Windows 11 and plans changes to streamline or even remove certain AI features where they don’t make sense."

Keep up the pressure. It does work.

They don't teach this in school, but you can just ignore social media.

I kid. But seriously. You don't have to stay glued to it, locked in for every update. If it's important, it will be there tomorrow and probably the day after.

Take breaks. Lots of them. That static isn't going anywhere.

From the internet:

"One thing AI has very clearly NOT solved is the incredibly powerful tendency of software engineers to get high on their own supply."

Hubris is the root of so many problems with tech these days, especially Big Tech.

"LG joins the rest of the world, accepts that people don’t want 8K TVs"

8K doesn't add anything to the visual experience unless your TV is over ~120 inches and you're sitting less than ~5 feet away. No one has or needs this setup, making 8K TVs mostly useless.
The TV industry finally concedes that the future may not be in 8K
With virtually no content and limited benefits, 8K TVs were doomed.

Do yourself a favor. Try out the first 2 episodes of Daredevil (2015-2018.)

This show is top tier. Every single thing about it is good.

I enjoy most of the Marvel live action movies and shows, but I would trade all of it for any one of these three seasons. In. a. heart. beat.

Give it 2 episodes.

Too many tabs open? Declare bankruptcy, close 'em knowing you can easily retrieve them by typing ^ in the address bar followed by anything you remember from the page title or address.

Unlike other browsers that push you to web search, Firefox is really good at using your local history.

Seriously considering learning Tolkien's Sindarin Elvish. It's a pretty small vocabulary and I think I could plow through it pretty quickly. It would be a wonderfully impractical use of some of my spare time and that itself has great appeal.

Drawing in the air with fat magic markers or playing with anatomy models in a scenic landscape are not use cases, they are demoware.

VR is mostly useless. Even as a game console it's not great, and by industry measures VR gets seconds on the hour compared to any of the real consoles.

Enemy of my enemy...

EV sales in both China and Europe have overtaken ICE car sales. Despite losing some momentum in the US, the scales &*ave* tipped. Now it's only a question of which companies (and countries) are smart enough to race for the new prize.

How many billionaires got there by co-opting our data and selling it to other billionaires using it to more effectively manipulate us into buying things?

Advertising is mostly evil and using it as a foundation for large parts of our civilization is short sighted.
