Just completed Mark Twain by Ron Chernow (@ronaldchernow.bsky.social). A wonderful, albeit long, book. The book explores both Mark Twain & Samuel Clemens in equal measure. I didn't know as much as I thought about his work & realized that I knew nothing about the man.

Just saw #Superman on #IMAX. Great movie by @jamesgunn.bsky.social. Lots of action & humor. Was initially nervous about all the superheroes in the movie but they were introduced in a thoughtful and humorous manner.

Just finished watching The Pitt. A tremendous medical drama that is extremely accurate. As a physician, I highly recommend the show to everyone to truly understand the drama of medicine.

Just finished reading The Redemption of Time by Baoshu. A fascinating addition to the #ThreeBodyProblem universe. Gives another layer to one of the more profound science fiction series that I have read (by @liu-cixin.bsky.social). Highly recommend the series and this addition!!

Important for world to know about #Pahalgam terrorist attack.
The attack occurred in a meadow surrounded by a wooded alpine area known as Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, at geolocation 34.0034, 75.3326.

Reports are the gunmen targeted mainly Hindu males; first stripping them to determine if they were Hindu before shooting them.

Here is the story of one home that survived the LA fire because it was built with fire resistant materials. Hopefully, this can serve as a blueprint for those whose homes were destroyed and can be built back better.

Don't oppose a recharacterization per se, but feel that this is motivated by reasons NOT 2 cover new weight loss meds. There's data that those of S. & E. Asian descent have increased risk of diseases at BMI less than 30 ( around 27.5). Doubt inc coverage 4 them

Knew that Medicare payments had decreased but was unaware that it had decrsd by 29 % since 2001! The best way to improve health care outcomes is w/QUALITY care but current proposals seem to gravitate toward quantity. The more time physicians can spend with their patients, the better outcomes

There appears to be an inverse relationship between activity (steps) and depression symptoms. The more activity, the less depression symptoms and vice versa. Other factors are in play, of course, but it's a good start for a variety of reasons to be more active.
