I’ve been with First Direct for over 30 years, so I guess I should understand they are not a new bank, a challenger. But still I expected better than a 3 day wait time to open a simple savings account.

Really great evening watching
@justradiohead.bsky.social and getting warned up for a week on Tuesday. They were GOOD!

So much to say (ok 🧵 I guess)

No Madri or Pravha in the Hen and Chickens, what’s a man to do?

(The answer is Guinness)

Moving some servers to a new datacentre today, bit of an arse that couldn’t get it all done in office hours and had to come back later, but managed to get a run in, then revisit the DC and got everything working, then 40 minutes on a (re-clothed) pool table. All’s well that ends well!

TRIP live - I don’t often listen to their podcast so maybe that’s why I found it a more interesting experience than Helen

Cracking morning / lunchtime exploring Spitalfields market and around. Haven’t been there since … well actually I’m not sure I’ve ever been there

Right hand vs Left was pretty much a wipeout on the American Pool table tonight: 12-1 to R, though poor quality all round tbh

This followed a 14-7 drubbing last week after L had fought strongly at the start to keep it to 6-6 but then seemed to succumb quicker to the alcohol poisoning 😆

not quite sure I agree that "anyone who’s talking about AI becoming a god or a monster is almost certainly an idiot" (ahem some self-reflection needed by myself, perhaps) but I enjoyed this measured and useful take.

There’s something wonderful about arriving in St Pancras on a Friday evening - especially after the clocks have changed.

Gave me a very warm feeling today

felt good to be back in the datacentre today. fibre optics, SFPs, switching, routing - c'mon that's the real stuff. Beats trying to obtain wayleave in a rented office, that's for sure

Just reached 2000 miles for the year. “Is very far”, as Chrissie Hind would sing - certainly further than I’ve run before in a whole year

What’s all this “trick or treat” outside tube stations???

Never seen that before, not have I seen it on any day other than Halloween

Of all the authorities in Wales, Caerphilly has the least number of people born abroad, under 3%

And yet the vox pops have been about small boats. They are not coming up the river rhymney!!

If you are in Caerphilly vote Cymru to keep Reform out.

We don't want American Fascism here.

After last year's DNF, I was a DNS for the Cabbage Patch 10 race today. Didn't feel race fit: bit chesty, glutes a bit tight but most significantly my left ankle is quite sore, and didn't want to push it in a race. Shame, it's a great one!

Still got a decent run in this morning for #streakday 2^10

With a carry-on suitcase I might add 🤣
Hilarious scenes at York Way when my good friend @arussellmorris.bsky.social sprinted for a bus on my behalf. Wow! It was like that scene in Chariots Fire when they run round the courtyard. What speed! 🏃‍♂️

Wow, haven’t been on Ryanair for some time. Eeesh

Mind you, the prospect of 13 mins to final destination at the other end on public transport is something to look forward to

That feeling when the tube board says 12 minutes to the next train … then one arrives within 1 minute 😊

In Hammersmith ready for Gene. Really looking forward to this after a manic day (few days)

Finished work, had a second run of the day, then a walk up to KX to meet daughter from uni for vegan Japanese streetfood. Oh and a quick pint first. Good times
