Despite repeatedly telling the public that the facility would not be powered by methane gas turbines, we have confirmed that xAl has purchased 66 methane gas turbines to power its Colossus Il facility at Tulane in South Memphis. xAl has also purchased property at a previous Duke Energy Plant in Southaven, MS (DeSoto County) near the Colossus Il facility - less than a mile from the
Tennessee/Mississippi border. DeSoto
County is the only county in Mississippi with an "F" grade in air quality due to high levels of ground level ozone (smog) and additional methane gas pollution will only make it worse. Read more here.
