I’ve been single for 2 months. Although, it’s been an adjustment, I am so glad I had the strength to leave my ex. Enjoying my own company is better than being with somebody who doesn’t make me feel seen and heard enough. I’m progressing in my healing journey and will continue to progress.

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.

Men will say they don’t want to date a woman who is a whore but then get mad when a woman wants to wait till they’re exclusive to have sex. This is one of the many reasons why I don’t take men seriously lol.

As a man if you want a woman who is soft around you, then you have to provide a space that she feels comfortable to be so. You can treat a woman poorly, then be surprised that she’s mean to you.

The older I get, the more I question if I want to have kids. Working in postpartum plays a big part as to why I’m hesitant. Pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood are beautiful but also very scary. Ik I’m young and still have time to decide but these days I’m leaning towards not having kids at all.

I honestly hate how people act like fat and beautiful are mutually exclusive. People think I’m putting myself down when I say I’m fat when I’m just describing my body type lol. I never said I was ugly. I am a fat beautiful woman. My weight does not and never will define my beauty.

It’s not lost on me that most of the careers that the DOE says are not “professional degrees” are predominantly female careers. The Trump administration does not want women working especially women of color.

The DOE saying that nursing is not a professional degree is absurd. They want to make it financially harder for people who want to be a nurse or advanced in their nursing career when we have a nursing shortage?! This will negatively impact patient care. People deserve so much better.

Black maternal mortality rate is so high in America and needs to be talked about more. Often times, the concerns of black female patients are dismissed by a lot of white nurses and doctors. Nonblack nurses and doctors are also guilty of not listening to black women.
