Here a short reminder that the closing date is approaching (30 January) - for this pretty exciting position (!) to work as a PostDoc on the B. subtilis circadian clock. shorturl.at/LKjWz

Hello everyone (and sorry for the low activity here). We are looking for a technician to help us with the tit project. So if you are a bird fanatic, and maybe also have some skills to work with devices in the field and/or with field experiments, please consider applying. 🥰

Guess what? Reindeer do have a functional molecular circadian clock! It's just the coupling that isn't great. Check out ASTI's latest work in JBR:

Time to consider joining IBNS in June 2025. Besides the exotic location in Norway above the polar circle, and thus the experience of midnight sun, we also have a wonderful program with exciting keynote speakers! 👇#neuroskyence #Tromsø

I am talking at #BOU2024 about biological rhythms and clocks of urban and forest birds. I show that city birds may be less sensitive to ALAN than forest birds. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/abs/10.1...
But our new common garden results suggest this is not related to genetic clock differences.
Inside JEB feature on our work: In hooded seals, the circadian clock tells them when to wake up & when to sleep. Ciccone &co show that the clock also tells their mitochondria when to be more efficient at making energy, allowing for deeper dives during the day.

First post intro:

We are the largest concentration of seasonal Chronobiologists in the world based above the arctic circle in Tromsø.

We address:
- How animals time changes in their Physiology using the daylength
- What is the impact of arctic, and, human light in health and physiology
