GungHo (3765.T or #GUNGF) launched "Puzzle & Dragons 0" few days ago, an iteration on their (one and only?) mobile success, P&D. It's not making waves - barely scratched the top 50 grossing in Japan and already out of top 100 right now.
Disappointing.

#GRVY release of Ragnarok Idle Adventure Plus, already hovering in top #20 for in app purchases in both TW & HK.
Meanwhile, Ragnarok M Classic is still in the top 10 money-making chart over there.

All self-published games. Trades at almost 0 EV with 90% of market cap in cash, profitable & growing.

1 month in, Ragnarok M: Classic still top 5-10 in Taiwan (and Hong Kong!) on both Apple+Android. MUCH better than what it did in SEA (which was disappointing to me), and yet Q1 came in better than expected. That release is NET NEW revenue in Q2, too. Good stuff.
#GRVY
For now they seem to think they can turn around Disney STEP, as it was recently launched. These numbers should carry in the expenses: live operations, user acquisition and the development cost as depreciation over time.
If not better in next 2Q, may as well write it off imo.
You're used to the struggle of reading Japanese companies charts :D But one can infer from the rest of the presentation that Disney STEP is the grey at the bottom. Each line is a game.
Results would be incredible if Disney STEP simply didn't exist 🤣 what a shame, this game cost iss too high. Still, they have a clear path to profitability, every other game is profitable, and the Wizardry one massively so. It has had 2 full quarters of running and still a lot of steam!.
What I dislike:
1) Disney STEP game tanking profitability, massively. Ruined their last quarter entirely.
2) Too high forecast for next FY, Mgmt could be more realistic, esp. given track record of underperforming.
3) Pipeline has 3 new games in dev, no mobile game..
#Drecom announced earnings.
What I like:
1) Revenue even higher than last quarter expect. QoQ +6%, YoY +108%!
2) Wizardry game performing really well and very profitable. They've struck gold and will be able to build on that in the future.
3) Every game is profitable except 1
They're aggressive on the organic growth part right now, this year is packed with launches, even non Ragnarok games.
I wish they'd purchased some well known but struggling IPs, and applied their learning from how they resuscitated Ragnarok via mobile games to them.
Well, did not expect Q1 revenue to land higher than Q4 in revenue #GRVY. Flat on net profit due to non-operational matters.
Ragnarok M: Classic did better than I accounted for in SEA. It's raging in Taiwan now, big Q2 inc...Pipeline is impressive. 2025 off to a strong start.
the #OWLT bet starting to pay off? Still the only FDA approved socks, a first partnership with a hospital. Revenue has been growing fast this Q1.
Wouldn't have touched it at SPAC valuation but now it's starting to look bright to me.
Ragnarok M Classic still #5 grossing in Taiwan. Really solid start to Q2 for #GRVY. Tracking well ahead of Q1 so far.
Q1 earnings Friday - expecting lower than Q4 on revenue with 1) THE RAGNAROK loosing steam 2) Rebirth launch offsetting some, but not all.
Long-term hold.
Yes, it's a momentum play for now, with asymmetry forming between revenue/profits and stock price, but if they maintain profitability and show an ability to grow the #Wizardry franchise, they could really improve their outcome.
I'm not planning on holding it forever right now, hoping for a double.
This may be the time investors realize Wizardry has staying power and long-term revenue, and is the catalyst. And that they exaggeratedly punished the poor launch of Disney STEP.
Earnings call on Monday. Given Wizardry was out day 1 in the previous quarter, it'll be lower in revenue, yet still much higher than the last few years' baseline. The big question is: at what cost? how much did they spend on UA?
