I have a tiny fragment of a memory of before my brother was born, when I'd only have been a little over two years old. Have vague memories of being four or five too.

Chinatown in London, shot on a Yashica ME-1 and Fujifilm Superia Xtra 400 film.

Well that's the other thing, ultimately your skills at a task are more important than a language (unless that language is essential to your job, as it is to mine, though even then there are some car journos with a pretty rough grasp of English...)

The enormous red banners over the house aren't a great look.

You can barely go five minutes on the internet without interacting with someone from an English-speaking country who can barely string a sentence together and writes at a primary-school level, so this seems like an unreasonably high bar.

I do the opposite, I'm a natural "zee" user when it comes to the letter in car designations.

I don't miss my second-gen Fortwo at all (despite doing some fun stuff like taking it to the Nurburgring), but I'd still consider a 3rd-gen one as they fix most of the problems I had with mine, but keep the good bits.
antonyingram.bsky.social
The third-gen (most recent) ones are easily the best as actual cars and the only ones that ride and handle with a degree of decorum. The US isn't the best environment for them, but in the genuinely more crowded cities, I could see them being a good first car.

Usual reminder that Jeep is capable of making its own dumb decisions independent of the Stellantis mothership - over in Europe Jeep sells a mix of models including hybrids and full EVs, so it's probably the US arm still wondering how to broach the subject of plug-in things with trad Jeep customers.

The concept of a small manual rear-drive EV is fun in general, though the AE86 is one of those cars where I'm just not interested in it being an EV. It's right near the top of the list of cars that are at their best with a loud 4cyl breathing through ITBs.

I hope they've also added the two-cylinder version of the Cinquecento, to go with the Sporting...
antonyingram.bsky.social
I like that they've added that, because GT2 already had the Seicento Sporting, so they've now given it the base model 😆

Lakeshore in Chicago in the 70s would be perfect for that.

I vaguely recall following a game dev on the other site who was working on a kind of Eastern Bloc driving game with Yugos and stuff which looked fun.

I guess the first few Driver games were *kinda* Malaise Era. Maybe a bit before.

That interior is the best kind of mad.

Le dernier concept-car Mercedes : "Vision Iconic". Le retour de la revanche du néo-rétro ? 🤔😐

Every time I see a first-gen Insight I miss my old one more and more.

Need to copy my entire iTunes library to hundreds of cassettes to properly enjoy this Toyota Carina ED I think. Bonus points for digital gauges www.carsensor.net/usedcar/deta...

Yeah, it's surprising it's not an actual pickup - looks closer to a Renault Twizy in size, though that has its own advantages. I wonder if there's a sub-kei class that it's aiming for (a bit like the Toyota i-Road from a bunch of years back).

Very into the racing ones in the short promo vid.

Oh neat. I recall reading they were thinking of putting an engine like that in the original Ka (the company making them was called Orbital, IIRC?), but shied away for cost reasons. And, I suspect, they could never really get the engine to hit its performance/economy/reliability etc targets.

Every so often I stumble across Run With Us by Lisa Lougheed which might be the hardest any theme song to a cartoon (The Raccoons) ever went www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyHX...

Still never driven one. Sat in one at a motor show a bunch of years back and remember @motoringjourno.bsky.social coming up to the door and saying something along the lines of "I knew I'd find you sitting in something weird"...

Town feeling very "Silent Hill" this morning. Even managed to accidentally jumpscare a couple of people when they didn't know someone was behind and I walked past them.

Can't speak for reliability, but Panameras are good in general, even the slightly ugly first gen.
