Why do I suddenly feel likeI’m about to embark on an Interocitor build? All I’m missing is Robert Nicols holding up a component, looking at me in confusion and saying “It’s not like an EPROM I’ve ever seen Cal, but it checks out.”

Absolutely this.

Recommendation algorithms turn creativity into a production line; an algorithm doesn’t have quality control or worry about burn-out. It exists only to recommend material to push more advertising.

A recommendation algorithm is middling servant and a terrible master!
If you make any kind of art or "content" just to be popular, you are an egotist and are making your stuff for entirely the wrong reasons.

Do it for love. Craft something, don't just push out tons and tons of low effort crap. Show you care about it.
Never understood why Berkeley didn’t support the NEOS mouse that was bundled with the C64 for a while. To me it was a no-brainer, but to Berkeley it might have be impossible!
Unless it’s Anaglyph 3D and requires a pair of specs that are only available with the Xmas 2026 Radio Times, I’m out.
Recall a guy in an ICPUG magazine talking about it for use with GEOS. Seemed to be quite taken with it. But let’s face it - you’d take a mouse over it any day!
Exactly. Then and only then can the showrunner start to right the wrongs of the last 20 years.

• Canonising David Burton as the “My agent accidentally told a Proton dealer I was the New Doctor” Doctor for future montages.
• All regenerations to be performed by Sylvester McCoy in a Harpo Marx wig.
“WAKING UP” for the love of Tom Baker not walking up.
Bet the 2026 Xmas special will start with Billie Piper walking up and walking into the console room. We’ll see Tennant turn round, towel in hand from just having a shower and say “Morning”, then we’re into the credits, forgetting that anything after the 2005 Christmas special ever happened…
BBC confirms future of Doctor Who and a new Christmas Special in 2026.

You mean that Tim Cook is going to sneak it on my iPod in the dead of night whether I want it or not?
Genuinely surprised EastEnders is still being made, as I thought it had been cancelled.

Then I realised it was Doctors that got the chop last year around this time.
I’m keen for the franchise to break new ground and not fall back on cliche (“If it bleeds, we can kill it!”)

But like the Xenomorph, the Predator only really works when used sparingly. Predator isn’t about him, but the psychological impact on the humans he’s hunting. Something most sequels forgot.
I know LLMs churn out rubbish, but if one is prepared to compromise on writers, I’m sure that editors and quality checkers will not be far behind.

There’s already plenty of AI slop padding out websites and YouTube videos already.
These kind of articles make me despair. This feels more like creating a production line, than creative endeavour. Also, it’s a slippery slope - LLMs don’t get writer’s block. So why employ someone that does to do anything but write an outline…
Totally agree; watched it late at night n the early nineties on BBC 1. Struck me that Halloween as an anthology was such a good idea; but a sniff of a franchise and the money men were away :(
I can get behind this diet. Now you have to wonder if say Salt and Vinegar more effective than Cheese and Onion.

Leave it with me, I will do extensive research…
Whenever I see “Out Of The Unknown” I mix it up with “Out Of This World”. The only surviving episode is the Asimov story “Little Lost Robot” which despite its very basic staging is well executed. Would love for copies of that series to be unearthed.
Looks cool. Every time you post some new hardware my credit card starts to panic; it knows me too well…

Will we see it in action on the next stream?
ITV are just trolling their audience now; it’s like Christmas Day 2024 - the most important day of the year for linear TV - where they threw in the towel and treated it like any other Wednesday by putting on This Morning and a repeat of a Bullseye special while everyone else was making an effort.
Please, let this be a repeat and not that ITV have bought a great series and put in on in a graveyard slot on a Sunday night so that they can squeeze in more episodes of reality TV with premium rate phone voting in primetime slots where people might actually want to watch some proper telly instead…
Never heard that one! Mind you if that’s what they were going for, it would explain the amount of sweat that seems to pour out of Peter Firth. It is astounding. The man looks like he’s in a sauna the entire film. I’m amazed he is not dehydrated husk at the end, a man rendered powder by the exertion.
Honestly, there are so many actors in this that despite the material (it’s a sexy Quatermass-style tale, at the end of the day) don’t phone it in and turn what by rights should have been a b-movie into something far, far more.
Is as it ever was. Had friends at uni who didn’t like the books because they were different from the radio series. Some people like change, others like facsimile, I guess.
But not a single mention of Tin Cup…
