I visited Yosemite despite a certain news station warning of hoards of squatters in the park during the government shutdown and the most alarming thing I saw was people feeding the squirrels. (For real though don't do that.)

Actually I think I figured something out. I had been liking photos of big fat bears getting ready for hibernation in Yellowstone. Apparently "grizzly" and "big bear" is a fetish theme. I wish the algorithm could differentiate ursus bears from large hairy men bears 😖

I always heard this was normal for gymnasts. This was a typical part of the "you're growing up" conversation in school health programs - that extremely tough exercise could delay or stall menstruation. What trainer or medical professional is surprised by this?

I am not loving the messaging that pregnant mothers should just tough out pain and fever for no real scientific reason. But they will. Because if someone raises the specter of harming your unborn child you will avoid that action.

Anyone wonder what unchecked fever does to a fetus? Nothing good.

This reminds me of a scene in a book called This is Happiness. Part of the plot is about bringing electricity to a small town in Ireland and after they do, everyone is really disappointed in how rundown their homes look.

I bought my first sewing machine, called a Little Sew n' Sew, as a fully-grown adult. It was great. It could't handle materials like denim but the price was very accessible and it made perfectly fine placemats, pillow cases, and clothing alterations.
