Also, if one watches LD first and then an older Trek show and makes the connection, they can enjoy it in a different way. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.

yet there are still plenty of jokes all across LD that dont need a single ounce of reference. Also, LD tells plenty of their own stories that need no connection to previous Trek.

I think the franchise is well present in the cultural zeitgeist that anyone who hasn't seen it and has an interest in it has enough context to start any where they want.

Gatekeeping "you must watch in this order only and not watch new stuff til you've seen all" is anti IDIC. This is not the way.

It's great to want to watch all of Trek, but since the shows already are from different time periods there is no wrong or right way to enjoy Trek.

Before the current era of Trek, I introduced a friend by showing them one "perfect" episode from each series and then let them choose where they would want to start. Maybe something like that would help them? 1/

I'm a finish carpenter by trade, but hate working outside of being in a shop. Most jobs these days are build and install and I just do not excel at the install work.
