Apparently irl the reason Paddy Mayne beat up an officer was because he went off on a mission and a superior officer had a stray he was feeding shot, so he was a dog lover, too.

I love the way in SAS: Rogue Heroes all of the mains have a love story. But randomly Bill Fraser’s love story is with a dog. Not in a creepy way—just he really loves this dog as his main B plot.

Yeah, sadly, he messes with Clarice's head so much that he ends up with her in the end. Romantically. It's actually one of my beefs with the series. She realizes he's changing her to become his dead sister so she seduces him to save her life and then just. Stays with him forever.
