Yes, this was exactly Hal’s point. Dems need to spend money selling the party and differentiate the Dems by calling out GOP’s actions 365 days a year. Hoarding money for candidates in the final stretches backfires and leaves the daily playing field unchallenged. (Full Disclosure: Hal was my spouse.)

VA benefits are not subject to the annual budget chaos. Neither are SSA funds.

These will continue uninterrupted due to shutdown; yet Trump may screw them in another way.

Most military personnel serve honorably, but those involved in the Wounded Knee massacre did not. Honoring them and restoring Confederate names on bases suggests crimes against humanity are acceptable. These issues matter.

This is the called “deep state” of professional career civil servants who run the government while political appointees come and go.

The depth of their knowledge is irreplaceable and a huge loss to an efficient and knowledgeable government workforce.
