Following up on the skirt: I brought some tops to try on with the skirt and they didn't work :( This is what happens when you buy your tops to go with fitted jeans instead of full skirts.

Monday: I have to get out of the house, I'm going to the mall (sees skirt for $50)
Tuesday: I'm going back to look at that skirt (tries on skirt)
Wednesday probably: I'm bringing three tops I might wear with this skirt to see if it looks good with the blouses I would wear with it

Car in the shop, I need to go in tomorrow to get a loaner because they probably won't be done till Tuesday. This car . . . if it doesn't pass inspection this summer I will be looking at other options, and I don't feel too bothered by that.

Paid $13.20 to download We Don't Go Back: A Watcher's Guide to Folk Horror because I worried that it already said what I'm trying to say in my folk horror project and . . . it's just movie reviews. I feel cheated. I wish I could give it away like a regular book so someone else might enjoy it.

The "Check Charging System" light in my car keeps turning on briefly. When I say I'm going to drive this car as long as I can maybe what I mean is that I'm going to drive it as long as I can put up with its crap.

Oh no, I can't find the "Death on the Nile" parody I was writing, it was called "Death on the Upper Hudson" and at the end the detective who was on the boat says he hasn't had a vacation uninterrupted by murder in 24 years :(

Quote of the day: "To place a Kitty Phone call, poke the cat's belly while making beep-boop sounds. Hold the cat to your ear (and hope the cat trusts you to not claw your face) and hold an inane conversation in cartoon voices."

Anybody who's read the book knows how wrong this is. I hope this is not AI but instead a plot to screw over kids who don't read the book for school and try to take a shortcut bookbrief.io/books/the-he...

Marched in a parade in an uncomfortable pair of shoes, spent hours with friends, drove home to find an interesting blister on the bottom of my foot and, as I walked up to the house, the scent of lilac. It's summer.

Have to take the visible basting threads out of my dress and sew on the new collar (and wait for the paint to dry on the VOLUNTEER sash I just stencilled). For 9:30 the night before an event it's not bad!

Oh, and decorate my hat. Rats.

Astonished to find this did not take place at the Dunkin Donuts near the library. The service there is so bad that I myself have wanted to stab someone.

Gotta figure out the sleeves and skirt on my WWI dress that I'm redoing. The skirt will be no problem but the sleeves . . . there's a reason they call them sleevils. Yikes.

Recently I posted about having never gone to Red Lobster but I've also never gone to Olive Garden and maybe that's where I should go. What interests me about Red Lobster is the Cheddar Bay biscuit. If I want good seafood I'll just visit my NJ relatives and ask them where to eat.

There's a story about Lloyd Kaufman, creator of the Toxic Avenger, that he was directing a film when fire engine came by and he yelled, "Turn the cameras around! Film the firetrucks! THIS IS GREAT PRODUCTION VALUE!"

I think of that every time firetrucks come to the library. Which happens A LOT.

Quote of the day is Tobey maguire on making Spiderman with Sam Raimi (with an appearance by Bruce Campbell): "Bruce said, you know, Sam's great except he's got this strange thing for verbal and physical abuse. And he beat Bruce with a stick."

Work was canceled for today as well so it has been a full week since I went to work. I got new lightbulbs and they're too bright, put up curtains and they're too light-colored (draping a dark-colored piece of fabric over the top should help). A weird week.
