We should improve society somewhat.

This explains a lot of the denial about Platner, too, IMO. I wanted to like him too, but, sigh.
Vance got his own separate EC votes. I think he would need an independent determination that he is also an insurrectionist and ineligible. Not sure he Jan 6ed enough to earn that on his own, although excusing it after the fact might be sufficient, depending how hardcore we want to be.
And folks like Whitmer have decided they'd rather coddle that than fight it.
They've simply decided they would rather stand for bad things than lose their license to do bad things, and they're trying to drag all the rest of us into the pits of hell right alongside them.
The idea of the United States as standing for good things has been under attack my whole life, as the most regressive of our fellows have had to reckon with the fact that standing for good things means having to live up to those standards ourselves, in international and domestic relations alike.
What they think is that "normal people" don't care about the IDEA of America anymore, because they don't care about it themselves. There's a direct throughline from "normies don't care about torture" (the idea of US as the good guys) to "normies don't care about the WH" (national symbols).
It's not even a good "lounging on the rug" photo. Like, if you're gonna lounge on the rug, why would you do it in that weird cluttered corner half behind a table? It just doesn't look comfortable or luxurious. It looks like he's searching for something he knocked off the table.

It feels like the biggest group that is writing off men are the people who treat being straight / cis / masc as an impairment on the level of dementia or major brain injury. "Oh, he gets Nazi tattoos sometimes---it's not him, it's the disease. Tragic." We can actually live full, rich lives!
Fair, but my laundry basket didn't have a way to seal it closed.
Welp, this may have been the only way to get that asshole to vote to end the filibuster, but boy what a monkey's paw outcome.
I have also had success trucking/chasing a cat to hide in another seemingly less threatening container (luggage, storage bin, etc.) then sealing that up and use it to gently dump them into the carrier.
Another thing I have used with difficult cats: trap them under a laundry basket, put the carrier with an open top somewhere lower (top of steps, chair next to a table), slide the basket so that the opening below it is above the carrier. May need to use a flat board under basket to move it around.
Using a larger item sometimes helps with wrapping even when it's difficult. Like, if you tried a towel, switch to a blanket.
The hollow bucatini noodles are fun to bite into.
Omg, I'm not the only radiatori lover here. Radiatori fans unite!
I love radiatori, although they're nearly impossible to find. So many little ridges to hold sauce, and the texture is delightful.
Like many, I was optimistic about Platner, but ouch:
I see we're just unironically doing "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" now.
Yeah, I am not thrilled by the age issue. Best case of a Mills win is she buys Maine a few years to come up with a plausible Democratic successor who doesn't have Nazi tattoos, and is also lying/self-deceiving when she says she won't help end the filibuster.

Better than Collins or Nazi tattoos, but
It's also kinda disturbing that he was apparently casually flashing it in public for so long and none of his friends and family called him on it the whole time. Seems like that says something not great about his social circles.
How did the man not even manage to do the most basic oppo research on himself and get his shit together in advance? Like, getting a bad tattoo when you're young and dumb, even a really bad one, can be explained away, but you've gotta figure out it's bad and get it removed BEFORE you run for Senate.

Many people are outraged that Trump is demolishing part of the White House. But of course Trump can't do it without help. It's ACECO LLC of Silver Spring MD ("full-service demolition") that is tearing down the People's House. You can call them and let them know how you feel. 1/
This is pretty far down on the list of actual damage he's done, but I still want show trials of everybody involved, all the way down to the guy operating whatever bit of heavy machinery that is.
If some West Wing-type drama ran an episode where a deeply unpopular president faced the largest mass protests in several generation, and then ended it with visuals like this critics would universally pan it for the grossly over-the-top symbolism.
