I do want to be clear that it's a neat, twisty card/token game, it's just that this archetype isn't my fave. And even then I can see how much the minion tiers and order will offer the card game sickos. I'm just over here like "oh hey look, two pair!"

Alchemy Factory is Satisfactory-ish, but Olde Thymey. I found the controls/builds a little clunky (like the boxes go in one side and out the other? I can't make them just both deposits?), but I can see myself falling down this rabbit hole. store.steampowered.com/app/3669570/...

"real" witch stories are hilarious. So you're telling me this woman was abused and murdered in a horrific way by these men in power because there was a famine and she could read, but the thing that's supposed to be scary is that, no, no, they were right and she has pOwErS? grow up, M R James.

Nildigo plays like a combo of Minesweeper and a Picross but I felt like I was too stupid to understand it? There's an internal gambling mechanic I found confusing rather than addicting. It's Neat (tm), but I don't get it? store.steampowered.com/app/3769010/...

The Killing Stone is SO compelling. The prose, the atmosphere, the character design, my GOD the VOICE ACTING, even how the items move during gameplay is all sublime. I am HOOKED. ...but I don't like deckbuilders, & I have to actually play the game? ugh, unfair. store.steampowered.com/app/2781470/...

I am a deduction/point-n-click sicko, so of course Seance of Blake Manor hits. The one thing I don't absolutely adore was the concept of time passing per action, but I also feel like that's going to give this one a lot of replay value over time. store.steampowered.com/app/1395520/...

This month I'm highlighting some of my favorite scary and creepy games that need more attention. I wouldn't call Vampire Therapist scary (unless you have a particular mindset and are afraid of being truly known and perceived by another person...) but it fits the Halloween vibe perfectly.

It's officially spooky season, but what if you want a little guidance to ease you into it? Like a therapist, maybe. Or a therapist who happens to bring their own holiday season flair by coincidentally being a vampire. But where in the indie game could we find something like a vampire therapist?

I finished a couple-book series a little bit ago, Mastering the Art of French Murder, which was fun if a little fast and loose with the details. Julia Child is a secondary character, it's set late 40s-early 50s. Read and did not listen, so I can't swear to audiobook quality.

we're trying to do a thing where we highlight more niche games (preferably indies, but who can define THAT anymore). this week we were obsessed with Fat Bear Week, which had us thinking Bear and Breakfast, AND it's 55% off for the steam sale, so it's perfect.
