Excellent idea, I am fully in support of this response. Coffin Texts are a good choice but I do recommend the Pyramid Texts for maximum discomfort, they were much more gruesome. The Cannibal Hymn in particular would really get people's attention.
Turned on my computer and this was the date showing so... greetings from the future!

Things aren't too bad. You can all look forward to poached ice cream, Saw XXXVII and the official annexation of Finland into the Insect Empire.
I have to say though, the sudden dive into Onimusha territory with the combat and the sheer number of gauntlets you have to get through as you get closer to the end was ridiculous. I'm not big on combat in horror anyway but the number of 'defeat the monster' sections was getting quite tiresome.
But I can say the story as a whole is brilliant. I have no complaints on that front, especially with knowing there's more information to be discovered, and the atmosphere still kept going throughout.
Just got my first ending of Silent Hill F.

...

I need to jump straight into New Game Plus and get more information because goddammit Ryukishi07 gave me just enough information to put together a picture but hid enough pieces that curiosity is ripping my brain to shreds!

I'm conflicted because the way Hinako gets the power is wonderfully horrifying, both from a narrative aspect and the presentation, but when it comes to actually implementing it into gameplay...

Thank you, it is improving now I've got a stronger inhaler. Fingers crossed the X rays show nothing and it just needs time to clear up 🤞

I am, I don't play a huge amount of AAA horror games so it's a fun change up.
P.S. I'm approaching this game as a Ryukishi07 fan, not a Silent Hill fan. I walk through Ebisugaoka and the town I think of is Hinamizawa, so I can't say if the game works as a Silent Hill entry. I'm curious to know how the Silent Hill fans are feeling so please drop a comment below (no spoilers!)

So yeah that's my general thoughts on the game so far. Amazed I've managed to avoid spoilers but I intend to keep it that way until I finish my first playthrough. Unless I absolutely have to replay it immediately to discover more stuff I'm probably going to start devouring videos the moment it ends.
Now the monster designs are delightful! The grotesque body horror, the creepy way they move and the noises! I had moments where the noises were enough to freak me out, and the journal entries about them are fascinating.
Combat isn't bad, one on one is fine to manage and I'm happy with just melee weapons. Admittedly this did reinforce how combat in horror is just not really my thing, I find it too easy to get frustrated by getting stuck in combat and dying over and over, but it hasn't put me off playing so far.
Also that soundtrack is wonderfully unsettling! Several tracks just go right through me and have me on edge even when nothing is happening. Wandering through Ebisugaoka listening to these songs is haunting, I love it! I'm going to be listening to this soundtrack all the time.
But the atmosphere is on point! I love how many quiet, empty moments there are during gameplay and while there were a few jumpscares (mostly from enemies) it really feels like the main scares are coming from the story and especially the environment.
Gonna save my thoughts on the story until I finish the game (hopefully by Wednesday or Thursday once I'm done with work for the week) because this is Ryukishi07, he writes fantastical situations with a very human core and I'm thoroughly expecting to be devastated.

Already had a few harsh moments.
So after umming and ahhing over pre-ordering Silent Hill F I still haven't finished my first run 🤣

Part of that is because I had a holiday to go on and part of it is a frustrating cough that will not leave (currently waiting on X ray results).

But how is the game so far?

AMAZING!
Angel's great, it expands this universe in a fun way and explores some darker stories. Enjoy watching, let me know what you think 😁

You are going to love Lorne. I'm not spoiling anything so you'll just have to watch the show to see what I mean, but I guarantee you will love him.
Me too, I grew up with the series and it has been a huge influence on me. To this day I can trace a lot of my tastes in media, personal perspectives and even my own writing to this show, it was a really formative experience.

The film is fun, I love it for what it is but it can't beat the show.
Started looking through some old files on my computer and came across a folder of stuff I used to post on deviantart.

Not ready to share my full cringe history yet, but here's one thing I made that was hilarious to me at the time (and honestly still makes me giggle... my sense of humour is weird).
Oh I'm sure it will be 😁
A robo-fucking speakeasy sounds amazing, I would 100% pay for that.
