It’s anecdotal of course - so not exactly a scientific study, but it is interesting that over the years the only people who have ever angrily asked why I would care about what was happening in their country have been Americans.

People from other counties see it as a good thing I’d care about them.

After all, that’s how Trump was re-elected. Too many people thought all his horrible policies and beliefs “wouldn’t affect them”, so they didn’t matter.

2) Your nation exerts extreme influence over the rest of the globe ( you’ve worked very hard to make it so)

Although we won’t place the figures in the crèche until Christmas Eve, for our Lessons & Carols Pageant on Sunday, I’ve prepared the crèche - turning our hollow altar around and using the inside as the stable.

It doesn’t really feel like Christmas until I can smell the hay in the church.
