I’ve worked on some games. You might have played some of them. I try to make sure they’re good.
I was irked because a lot of my grocery order last week went bad in the first couple of days, but the jokes on them, cause this week, I’m so congested I can’t smell anything at all.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

While I’m shaking my fist at clouds, I also don’t approve of this recent push to numeronym everything. I don’t want to have to look up what you mean by l18n or a11y or k8s or d10n.

Check on your strong friends.
Pantone’s 2026 color of the year is technically not a color at all — meet Cloud Dancer, the first-ever white shade to receive the designation from the world’s color authority.
Pantone makes a surprising choice for its 2026 color of the year
We did not see that coming.

With the rapidity of technical changes, I think it’s going to be more and more common for those of us of middle age to feel like it’s hard to keep up, but I gotta say, the toughest one for me so far is that everything is a video now. I have never retained info from video well.

This Common Sense Day (Nov. 4), we're remembering the teachings of American revolutionary Thomas Paine, who said in his 1776 pamphlet "Common Sense" that state/church separation is a must-have in any functioning democracy.

@nytimes.com when I see a headline this misleading about my own city, it calls into question the rest of your reporting.

What about the questions raised around previous initiatives that got nowhere? What about the massive increase in spending on APD?

NPR’s @wstonereports.bsky.social is doing important work right now covering the changes in healthcare, and I anticipate that it will become even more important as the consequences of funding and leadership changes come into effect. On Up First today:

While she completed medical school, she never finished residency, and is likely to face tough questions from senators about her qualifications and views on vaccines.

My mother zipties her measuring spoons, which I always found mildly annoying because they’re harder to use, and you can’t really share them when multiple people are working in the kitchen.

But here I fucking am, wondering if the half teaspoon measure ended up in the Metamucil or the sugar. Again.

Usually I agonize over my GOTY, and there have been so many incredible games launched that I’d expect this year to be the same, but I have a hard time imagining anything will surpass @abioticfactor.com for me. It’s an incredible game, and I’m surprised not to see more chatter around it.

Happy Amazon Prime Day! Amazon collects mountains of data about how you use the service, but there is a setting you can change to make it harder for the company to use that data to sell you more things. #OptOutOctober www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Since this Star Wars Hunters thread is going to be very long, I'm going to make a shorter thread with quoted posts where you can jump in where you want if there's a specific character you want to read about.

In a time when the industry and so many game developers are struggling, it hurts my heart a bit to see game devs post and repost cynical takes about other studios’ projects based purely on speculation. A rising tide, y’all.

Maron isn’t wrong about this, but man, it sucks. There were a ton of great comics here before Rogan and his ilk arrived, but they overwhelmed the Austin comedy scene, and now its primary claim to fame is being the home of the hack: www.chron.com/culture/arti...

The same photoshopped misinformation has hit my feed twice today.

Y’all, please remember that this site is still social media, and as such, has plenty of folks willing to hijack your amygdala for engagement. If it seems too good/preposterous/aligned with your worldview to be true…

Help me out, Austinites - Prop Q.

I vote for most tax increases, esp the AISD & transport bonds. We all gotta pitch in.

But this one… the usual side-taking seems to be happening (Casar is pro, Save Austin Now is against), but… I’m not seeing anywhere what the funds are for. What am I missing?

For 6 months, the tea lights sat on my desk unperturbed, waiting for a purpose. About a month ago, I tidied my office, found a place for them and put them away.

But where????

I have checked every drawer and shelf in my office, every junk drawer in the house, and nothing! This is why I don’t tidy.

Offering this up as someone who is not terminally online, but used to be.

The UW video does not make us look good. You cannot hear anything he said, and it just makes the crowd look like they support the suppression of free speech. They cheer on the pepper spraying of someone for words.
