At the meeting, we discussed current challenges Ukraine is facing amid Russia’s ongoing aggression and focused on priority areas of cooperation. I particularly stressed the urgent need for continued support to Ukraine’s energy sector, that remains one of the main targets of Russia’s daily attacks.

The Canadian assistance enables the implementation of essential development and humanitarian projects and contributes to rebuilding the Ukrainian communities affected by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

I was pleased to meet yesterday with the Honourable Randeep Sarai, Canada’s Secretary of State (International Development).

I expressed our sincere gratitude to Canada and personally to the Honourable Secretary of State for the continued support provided to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

The support of Canada and Canadian people is not only helping Ukraine defend its freedom but also strengthening the international peace and security.

I look forward to working actively with Canadian partners at all levels for the benefit of our two countries and peoples.

Today, when Ukraine continues to resist heroically Russia’s brutal invasion, Canada unwaveringly stands with Ukraine – politically, militarily, economically, and through humanitarian aid.

For me, it is a profound privilege and highest responsibility to represent Ukraine in Canada – home to more than 1,4 million of Ukrainian Canadians, and nearly 300,000 of my compatriots who came to Canada seeking safety and protection since the start of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression in 2022.

Today, I have had a great honour of presenting my Letters of Credence to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, officially assuming my duties as Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada.
