Hey there, my name is Andrew Browne; I’m an artist based in Sapporo, Japan.

I’m open for commissions! My work ranges from fine art to comics, incorporating both my American roots and my love for film (from Akira Kurosawa to kung fu films to John Carpenter).

I’ve seen a majority of Kurosawa’s films in the theater (via film festivals, etc), but this is one I have yet to see on the big screen. I can’t wait!

The 4K remastered edition of Seven Samurai is playing for just three weeks in theaters (in Japan). Don’t miss your chance to see it!

Oh, it’s #portfolioday already? I’m Ben and recently I’ve mostly been drawing boxes.

Here is a bird I saw a few times since I moved in Singapore, but I could not get a decent shot... Until yesterday!

Crimson sunbird @ Windsor nature park #birds

The Nature Society Singapore proposed this bird as the national bird. It certainly represents nicely the beauty of wildlife in Singapore!

Speaking of Cameron and AI, there was a whole long ad for his new Avatar movie yapping about how it’s not created by computers but by the human actors doing the motion capture work. It certainly felt like he was working overtime to cover up his real intent.

Where he can’t believe Shapiro would even suggest it? I did. That’s a reaction that makes sense.

Cameron, too! 🤷‍♂️

Watched One Battle After Another. Wow! I will be going back to see it again next week.

I think for most people in creative fields, you can tell which side they (would) fall on based on their work, even if it’s from before the generative bullshit was a thing.

George miller has an “intense curiosity” about AI in film.

Coincidentally, I have always had an intense dislike for his work.

They worked to radically stop any protests that aimed to upset the status quo, and have also spent the last decade or more talking down to protestors as well. It’s a shame

YES you are outsourcing your brain, you are outsourcing your motherfucking SOUL.

As soon as you delegate a skill to AI, you condemn future you from EVER being able to learn that skill, all because you’re lazy or afraid at being bad at something. Sad and pathetic.

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

They have always been the party of censorship. They never hated "cancel culture" they hated being held to account. They still know they aren't right. But they need to feel like they are. So they are going to ruin lives and kill the future until they feel better about themselves... Or we stop them.

There was another variant, as well as a Kaba poster as well, but this was the one I imagine I will want to hang eventually

Corporations are not your friends. They are about investors making money in any way possible. I wish people would realize this.
