To be fair, there's a few highlight episodes for Mayweather, and they're pretty rough. So maybe the writers just threw up their hands at some point. But they also seem to give up on Hoshi at some point too, despite the fact that she got a decent amount of focus early on in a way Mayweather didn't.

I'd love to see Jek-14, the Freemakers, and that corner of the world be more explored/included! Though I'll acknowledge some of the elements of their stories are a bit out there.

There's a character in Jedi Survivor with a force arm, so at least that facet of Jek-14's deal lives on in some way!

The funny thing about Paradise Lost is that its version of Satan's fall is essentially just God as the owner of a company who announces that his son is going to be everyone's new supervisor, with Satan as a disgruntled employee who grumbles that "I should be in charge rather than that nepo baby!"

The imagery from that day has been played and replayed and even injected into blockbusters so many times, to the point that it can be desensitizing. But the feeling of that day -- how uncertain everything seemed, how the people we admired and cared about were affected by it -- retains all its power.

FWIW, I do think you can use the fact that the serum was originally designed for Spock, and then molecularly reversed by a human who's no expert in genetic engineering, to handwave away the most problematic elements here. But I still disike the broad Vulcan caricatures in and of themselves.

Not being Vulcan, I'm no mind reader but I bet the writers viewed the episode as a spiritual succesor to "Charades" from last season, and thought it'd be clever to invoke the serum from that episode as the means of transformation. I can appreciate the idea in principle but again, the implications...

Agreed! We got a bit of that in the Lower Decks episode that introduced T'Lyn, and I thought LD handled things much better, both in the humor department and in the "understanding Vulcans" department.
