You basically win your conference or get in the at-large snake pit at the mercy of the committee and if you find yourself in the latter group that’s maybe not fun but… tough?
(the playoff should consist of conference champions first and at-larges last and if you want to lose three games, great! win your conference. if you don't want to win your conference, don't lose three games! this is not complicated!)

33-30 in OT over WMU in Week 2 in Kzoo has quietly been one of the more important G5 non-conference results. UNT may end up with a win over the MAC champ.
Drew Mestemaker is currently 13-for-16 for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and that's a clear step backwards from last week's stats. His RB has 122 yards at half, too. I love this North Texas offense so much.

Contending for MAC in Year 1, Matt Drinkall’s Central Michigan exceeded expectations
Drinkall and Co. took over a CMU program that won four games a year ago and promptly engineered a MAC contending-team in 2025.

The Game: 5 reasons Michigan can beat Ohio State
Michigan is again a decided underdog in The Game, but that didn't stop the Wolverines from winning in upset fashion last year.

The Lions not being as good as the 15-2 from last year was honestly inevitable but the sloppy, unfocused play the last few times out is of real concern — and that’s not something injuries should affect.
Well crap, that was just a dreadful game all around.

Jamo got the big gain earlier on that drive on another one of those speed ins/digs — that’s like an auto completion for Jamo when he’s getting outside leverage. His speed and the in cut results in like five yards of cushion guaranteed every time. Great way to weaponize him w/ simple completions.

But surely the Lions will get a procedural penalty erased later on a key situation… right?

Also a textbook example NFL officials being inexcusably bad at handling mechanics of officiating outside of the plays themselves. Been shit for years and that’s a ghastly example in a standalone national window.
Wiping out that false start there is why Lions fans think conspiratorial about officiating tho
Detroit has been uncharacteristically sloppy and mistake/penalty prone the last few weeks
