Rising carbon dioxide is warming our atmosphere and shifting the winds that once carried Iran’s seasonal rains. Persistent high-pressure air now sinks over the region, drying the clouds before they can grow heavy enough to fall as rain.

Perched alertly on a sunlit rock, the crow observes its surroundings with keen intelligence. Known for remarkable problem-solving skills, crows can recognize human faces, use tools, and even plan future actions, traits once thought unique to humans and great apes.

We must be committed to fairness in using natural resources. Unequal extraction and pollution disrupt ecological resilience, leading to irreversible decline. Sustainable water management ensures the continuity of ecosystems and supports biodiversity.

The slopes of Saka peak, once covered with alpine streams and summer pastures, now lie parched under the sun. The fading vegetation and exposed rocks trace the slow retreat of water in Iran’s highlands, where drought is reshaping the land, one dry season at a time. #photography

Thinking about how many trees were used so I can have my furniture, table, or paper, gives me chills. We've created this way of life through our evolution, and we try to force everything else to adapt to what we created. But why don't we adapt our way to how nature is?

In many places in Iran, nature's water sources are under pressure from unsustainable water use. With groundwater systems depleted due to decades of mismanagement, local farmers left with no choice but to divert river water to sustain their crops, harming the natural ecosystem.

This scene caught me; it feels like a pause, still, grounded, but alive with quiet growth. Sometimes that’s all I need. Even in what appears to be loss, nature is always rebuilding and transforming. Nothing truly disappears here; it becomes part of something else.

We’ve lived side by side for so long, sharing every rise and fall. Now, some hands found a way to remove you from your roots, and you’re gone. The green leaves still clinging to your branches whisper you still have so much left to witness. Such a shame you’re gone.

In ancient forests, humans dig for manmade treasure while destroying the real treasure, nature that evolved over millions of years, turning living roots into graveyards of plastic and cloth that cling to them like scars, as if it's shackled by their carelessness.

In the Hyrcanian forests, found this heartbroken poor tree with a fresh cut. Older than the oldest human alive, a being that gives us oxygen, absorbs carbon dioxide for free, was cut down by an inhuman. A cut that weakens a living system that took millennia to grow.

As I climbed to the Carrot plain, one of the first things I observed was the condition of the local stream and waterfall, which appeared dry or reduced to a trickle. Locals confirmed that what were once consistent water flows have been declining over the past decade.

In the Zarinabad section of the Hyrcanian forests, a flood carried waste from an upstream dumping site, leaving plastic and textile debris tangled in the trees and riverbanks. This event highlights how poor waste management and extreme weather can accelerate ecosystem pollution.

Born to roam forests, a young deer stands behind iron bars with its soft gaze caught between curiosity and confinement. Its world is a patch of concrete and metal, far from the scents of the wild. What’s called protection here feels more like quiet imprisonment.
