Hello friends. I am new to Bluesky. I want to introduce myself a little bit. My PhD was in mathematics education. I have also studied pure math, physics, psychoanalysis & philosophy. I now study the Hegel Marx Lacan Žižek axis in Math Ed. My dissertation won an international feminists’ award.

I’m super proud and beyond honored — I’ve been invited to serve as Co-Chair of TSG 5.9, the topic study group on “Philosophy of Math and Math Ed” at #icme16 in Prague in 2028! If I will see or meet you there, please drop a comment below.

Recently became friends with the author. How have we not met before? This is starting out to be a super cool book.

Without the DISCIPLINE called “mathematics education,” mathematics will end up being only for the machines in the future, not us. Our field is existentially important for the preservation (in humanity) of this very important & ancient tradition (viz. mathematics): it’s an ACCOUNT of the human race.

The fact that Žižek’s next book (coming 2026) mirrors a forthcoming book chapter by @anarchoautistic.bsky.social , @kyleswhipple.bsky.social , and I…. That’s a cool-ass feeling!!! We must have all four been tuned into the same ideological suspicions at the same time.

Psychoanalysts help everyone individually move toward a different way of being with oneself, with others, and with the world, neither hoping for, nor imposing, nor making anybody believe in a miracle.

My summer reading. Anyone else have suggestions to add once I finish marking these up to kingdom come? My dissertation was based heavily on Lacan’s Seminar XX… one of the best things I have ever read. #lacan #althusser #marx

Professors spent years convincing students that good writing meant following prescriptivist rules that stripped their writing of their unique voice and are now mad that students have taken that message to heart and are now ceding their voice to AI in order to better follow these prescriptivist norms
