Global AWS Outage Disrupts Major Apps and Services Worldwide

The disruption, which began early Monday morning in U.S. Eastern Time, appears to have originated in AWS’s US-EAST-1 region in northern Virginia, where the company’s data-centre network experienced a failure in its Domain Name System (DNS) resolution — essentially the “phonebook” of the internet that translates domain names into IP addresses.
