FT: England 1-2 Brazil

A disappointing homecoming for the European champions, who really couldn't make the numerical advantage count. Lots of possession but very few clear-cut chances in a performance that lacked cutting edge.
Stanway hits the bar from range and that's her last action as Agyemang replaces her. Huge reception for the teenager from the Etihad crowd
Bronze and Beever-Jones on for England, replacing Carter and Kelly, meaning Le Tissier moves to centre-back...
GOAL! Stanway squeezes her penalty underneath Lorena and halves England's deficit
Penalty England! Nice lay off by Russo for Mead who darts inside and strikes at goal before being fouled. Referee points to the spot
Half-time: England 0-2 Brazil

Brazil started well, got two goals to show for it but then a red card for Angelina has allowed England to take total control of this game. That said, the hosts aren't doing much to make that numerical advantage count. Not many chances created at all
Gotta just let Toone go through there. You're 2-0 up after 20 minutes, you don't need to make that foul
And we've got a big changer here as Brazil are reduced to 10. Angelina makes a really daft decision, to be honest, in pulling Toone back as she races through on goal. Gives the referee no choice but to send her off.
2-0 Brazil! The visitors are spoiling England's homecoming here. Dudinha fires one in off the post after the hosts, again, look all over the place at the back
Goal Brazil! Really neat finish by Bia Zaneratto but questions to be asked of England's defence, which was sliced open far too easily. The visitors have started the brighter, though, and are good value for that lead. 1-0!

A surprise guest as assistant referee for England vs Brazil apparently
Really enjoying watching her!
There are a few issues that England will be looking to address as a new tournament cycle, looking ahead to the 2027 World Cup, begins and building depth in the deeper midfield areas is one of them.

Fortunately, Laura Blindkilde Brown looks capable of being a fantastic part of the solution.
Why Man City star Laura Blindkilde Brown can be the answer to one of the Lionesses' longest standing issues | Goal.com
After starting Manchester City's new season in flying form, Laura Blindkilde Brown arrives into Lionesses camp full of confidence, and Sarina Wiegman should capitalise on that by giving the 22-year-ol...

Renée Slegers on the injured Leah Williamson:

"She's progressing well. She did her first session on pitch yesterday, which was good. Exact timeline, we'll have to see, but we hope to see her back before Christmas. That will be great. But then everything has to go to plan."

FT: Arsenal 1-2 Lyon

Arsenal out-classed tonight. Six months ago, they stunned Lyon in their own back yard but this was a totally different story, with the scoreline flattering the Gunners in the end. Conceded too many chances, were lucky not to lose by more, and created little.
Arsenal make two more subs as Cooney-Cross and Blackstenius replace Caldentey and Russo
Lily Yohannes and Ada Hegerberg coming on for Lyon next. It's not a bad bench...
Brand and Damaris on, with Joseph and Heaps going off
Joseph down in real pain literally minutes after coming on. Looks a bad one. Such a great opportunity for her to get a good half hour in a game like this, too. She's helped off the pitch by two of the physios as Lyon prepare more subs
