#iTeachPhysics what's your success rate at getting students to correctly use vector notation? Grading work and the amount of (vector) = (number) statements and their equivalents is rough.

#iTeachPhysics folks is it time to start calling the normal force something else? I'm not surprised Ss don't know/remember that the "normal" in the name is for perpendicular but even after explaining it the typical attitude seems that it's a mystical thing

#iTeachPhysics folks, I like starting discussions of Newton's laws with questions like this on, but do you know of questions like it that students actually get wrong? Most of my Ss had physics before and know "what I want to hear" even if they'll reason incorrectly abt this later on.
