I say this as an optimist, but I’m not sure how optimism is a thing. if I project back to the pre-agriculture hunter gather era, people who are optimistic about eating the red mushroom or I can get the bear and make a stew, it doesn’t seem like they would be very good at passing along their genes

1. the centaur-related terminology in AI, which I believe originates from the chess world, cracks me up
2. the notion of humans as scapegoats for AI is the most dystopian of outcomes

Taking out a loan is buying money.

Taking investment is buying money.

Offering a discount in exchange for annual payments is buying money.

Sometimes it makes sense to buy money, and sometimes it doesn't.

Is there a consensus replacement phrasing for googling something now that we use chat whatever LLMs?

I'm leaning towards "just FROL it" as in future robot overlords.

"I'm frolling for when the machines will take over humanity."

I did not know that the Dark Ages were literally dark:

The Myth of the three day weekend:

All the research indicated it takes about 72 hours for your brain to “detox” from work.

A three day weekend means you spend the whole 3 days with work thoughts still in your brain.

I get affect vs effect correct every time and I even plug in the USB-A cables the right way up most of the time, but ask me to spell gaurantee and I get that red underline taunting me like a toddler who found their first ever noisemaker.

I just discovered wipr2, a safari-only ad blocker and it is amazing. insta-buy, insta-install on every apple device I own.

If you use safari even a little, I really can't recommend this enough.

Apparently the way computers think about numbers and the way humans think about numbers are dramatically different.

This was interesting to me and touches on the Venn diagram of normal human math, deep academia math and computer science:

I spent some time this morning writing up a technical retro. blameless style of course. some thoughts:

- this is only my second in the past year. Phoenix/liveview is awesome.
- it was not DNS
- I prob should not be writing defect retros on a Saturday morning.
