However, tho she used to be pretty naíve in her youth, circumstances led her to learn (the hard way, let's be honest) to discern truth from lie and she became really good at it.

Alwen needs to let go of her guilt for what happened to her kingdom and to her family. She believes it's all her fault because of her naïvity at the time and she blame herself everyday for it. She was taken advantage of and it cost her everything.

Alwen would wear something similar to my own winter cloak. It's cozy, warmth, allows her to layer clothes (she doesn't support the cold very well), but most importantly, it allows her wings to stay warm without compressing them like a coat would.
The only downside is that she can't fly wearing this.
