DEI is a counterproductive plan to address something that had already been overcome legally and was in process of being overcome socially.

Democrat politicians/voters evolved during the 70s, 80s etc, as society changed. (Rs remained Republican. See our party platforms and voting records.)

Dems didn't change parties, they stayed Dems and changed some behavior. **And they did not change AT ALL between WW2 and the 60s as you claimed.

Thurmond left the racist party and changed hus voting habits and ideology to match the Republican Party. Because his own ideology was changing, challenged by his daughter, her boyfriend, and society.

That's absolutely false. The Dems filibustered the 1957 Civil Rights act as well.

The parties never switched.

The Dems may have changed, like chameleons, but the Republican Party remained steadfast. The party platforms WE've voted on for 170 years have maintained our core values consistently.

What I said is a fact. Though not necessarily in that order. I've done enough reading on his life and from his daughter to understand the change was real but complicated - as is to be expected when someone leaves behind an entire worldview.
