when's the last time you got an email saying "dynamodb will be down for maintenance"?
never.
this isn't luck. it's engineering.
dynamodb has had zero planned maintenance outages in 13+ years.
zero.

here is what i've realised:
i'm the first audience for my own content
i learn, write, share, and consume it again
myself first, then others
what i get?
clear mind
more knowledge
more confidence
effort not waste

Learn how AWS Security Groups and NACLs work.
Both are like firewalls, but at different levels:
-SG: Instance-level, stateful (remembers connections)
-NACL: Subnet-level, stateless (no memory of connections)
It's interesting to know when your requests or responses get blocked.

NAT Gateway is not a magic tunnel to the internet, and many cloud engineers get this wrong.
Reality:
• NAT Gateway lives in public subnet.
• It has ENI, similar to EC2 instance.
• Traffic must pass through the public subnet’s NACL and route table before reaching the internet.

I have no experience with #Azure, but I've heard it offers best support for Windows Server, which makes sense. My main concern is with Windows patching. #AWS WorkSpaces, being fully managed service, it handles patching as well. Planning to migrate all personal EC2 to WorkSpaces.

Half the confusion in architecture disappears the moment you start sketching. You'll see new possibilities from multiple dimensions and for each component. In this case, simply adding a scheduler component opened up a range of new features and opportunities.

Let's you create isolated, secure environments within your EC2 instance. Perfect for processing sensitive data without exposure.

The Internet was done so well that most people think of it as a natural resource like the Pacific Ocean, rather than something that was man-made.
When was the last time a technology with a scale like that was so error-free?
