The UK Govt isn't a huge fan of Gerry Adams. Fine. But hundreds of people, including him, were locked up without trial in NI and one of the v few safeguards, Secretary of State permission, was not fulfilled. The UK, too often, cannot cope with its own wrongdoing:

if Milei doubles his number of Senators he'll have 14 out of 72, if he doubles the number of deputies he'll have 75 out of 257 And neither of those will happen, The "winner" will be decided by percentage of the vote and who spins their best

This is insane, Trump conditions support for Milei on him winning the mid terms on the 26th. But there's no winning or losing as such, half the deputy seats and a third of the senate one are up for grabs. You can do well or badly but you can't win.

I find the talk of him as being some kind of god of difficult negotiations hard to understand. He played a valuable role in GFA negotations because he worked for the party with most leverage, indeed huge leverage. The UK has no leverage over the parties to the various IP conflict

that's a key point, that immigrants often come with 2 or 3 langs on the go already, a Pak guy I did the MA with was a native speaker of a tiny minority lang, learned Urdu at school and later English,

this is the key point and a large part of getting a good grade in a standard test is how well you have studied and practiced *the test,* I flicked thru the B2 DELE in a library the other day and honestly I'm not sure I'd pass one with the same format in English wo a lot of practice
