I argued in the substack a while back that you couldn't really say that Ireland was particularly antisemitic, more that it was in love with itself. Well....👇👇👇

Top work, as usual. Lots of similar political discourse in Spain too.

Pedro Sánchez speaking in English. Bang on about the centre right abandoning its values in order to win votes but ending up without votes or values

I see a considerable amount of hating Rosalia from ppl from normally sensible ppl at the other place. I ascribe this to 1. inability to process the fact that a popular artist has profound religious beliefs and 2. Related snobbery, a feeling that they're above that kind of tastelessness

Spain's government is constantly chided for supposedly slacking on defense spending when in fact it's fire hosing money at the local defence sector. Could the real problem be that it declines to kiss Trump's arse?

Otoh, Manchán was a fine man and whatever worked for him and the wife in his final days is great. Otoh, a heap of pound shop mysticism, including a death doula from Cork !

if you screen all the men in Britain you'll certainly save some lives, you'll also submit many to completely unnecessary medical interventions with nasty side effect. It may be rational for YOU to get checked but it's not rational for the govt to mandate it for everyone
Millions of middle-aged men will be denied routine prostate cancer checks, with a new NHS screening programme instead focusing on 30,000 with a cancer-causing mutation
Millions miss out on prostate screening while most at-risk get checks

anecdote from Argentine sociologist Juan Carlos Torre, which explains, at least in part, why Catalan nationalists are often angered by Argentine immigrants. Arg ppl have a level of cultural confidence and self-esteem not common in LatAm and tend to be unimpressed by local identity squabbles

thru gritted teeth judge Peinado calls 4 witnesses favourable to Sánchez's wife. they testify that her activities at Complutense Uni were normal. Nevertheless, I think in the current judicial climate she's likely to be sent for trial and convicted of sth. Evidence doesn't matter at this state

totally agree, if a reply raises your blood pressure just block. Saves everyone a lot of time and grief.
Honestly "Don't Engage, Just Block" has transformed my social media experience so profoundly that it's hard for me to describe. It's just so much better to be online now.
i also liked the fact that most of us who had come from the other site had the mentality of not giving "bad actors" the benefit of the doubt on here , and told all to block, not mute, an move on
