Wife and I celebrated our first-date anniversary today — 26 years. Reminisced about all our travels. Then decided we can’t travel internationally anytime soon because we can’t risk her being detained upon return. She’s a citizen, been here 45 years, never any legal trouble. Astonishing.
And we’re not going to travel internationally for now. Too risky coming back.
America is …. The birthday party we went to yesterday for the one-year-old child of Indian immigrants who live in our neighborhood. America is not …. demonizing immigrants and eliminating birthright citizenship. America is … a party where people from all over the world gather to toast new life.
Writer grief is getting rid of the copies of my 25-year-old first novel that I bought from St. Martin’s because they were about to be remaindered.

Been off Bluesky while my mom was in the hospital. (She’s fine now.) I’m glad she’s not cognitively aware enough to follow the news. She would be heartbroken.
Had dinner last night with friends who lived through Pinochet regime as children. They remembered their parents hiding books and music. They were told not to tell anyone what they read or listened to. I can’t imagine.
Cancelled our Prime membership today.
