I also strongly agree with Chris Newfield's point around 58:00 that the reason humanities are less "collaborative" than other fields is "not psychological": it's not funded!! Thank you!! Collaboration is not free. It means more emails, more meetings, more time to work out consensus.

Even though the vagaries of the American higher ed sector differ dramatically to the UK’s in *some* important ways—NZ, too—we’re all affected by similar economic & ideological threats to our profession, research funding, & jobs like we’re seeing with WVU. Super relevant listen!
