Mythbusting: Alex Baena 🇪🇸
I spent some time watching one of La Liga's most exciting players! If you're searching for a TLDR:
At first, I was pretty disappointed. But, then I found my way back onboard the hype train....

I definitely overlooked Ekitike's dueling when scouting him back in March. I focused too heavily on his lack of bodyweight and ability to get barged out of the way, and missed what he can do to put defenders off - using his arms to keep them away

Cyclists of London, we built you roads, we built you traffic lights, we didn't build you them so you could blaze through red lights. Are you colourblind?

Maybe Donnarumma will be mostly flawless in shot-stopping at Man City, but can we please stop framing his signing as, "He's a great shot-stopper, just terrible with his feet".
Arsenal. Atletico Madrid. Newcastle. Dortmund. Liverpool. Last two seasons, go and watch the goals.

Just remembered he's still only 23 😂😂😂
Been watching all of Chelsea's games this season and my word, Caicedo is just phenomenal. Step ahead of everyone else in anticipating loose balls and winning it back. Gonna be HUGE for them

On X, I'm trying to actively apply a filter to my takes. Here though, I'm happy to post more of my general thoughts.
One of those is that Simons to Spurs is probably the biggest superstar they've signed in a decade. He has flaws, but an electric & fun player that I love

I'm going to be posting Spurs analysis and I'm worried I'm gonna get hated. It's not saying they are bad, just way less hyped than most people are on them

Think a few years ago in football, there was a big need for traditional scouts/people in the game to combine their 'eye test' with new data.
Now, I believe there's a chunk of data analysts who rely on the data too much, and undervalue the 'eye test'

After finishing second last time out, Marseille went into this season being tipped as potential title contenders. But it would take just one game for things to blow up in spectacular fashion. Why Marseille showed Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe the door: ‘An incident of extreme violence’
The players clashed in the dressing room after last week's defeat at 10-man Rennes and were immediately placed on the transfer list

In the space of a week I've gone from thinking that Marseille could potentially do something big this season, as they were pretty unlucky last year + made nice transfers - to now being v sceptical that RDZ even lasts the season lol

Really enjoyed Acheampong's ball carrying today, feel like it's something I haven't seen from Chelsea's other CBs under Maresca, at least to this frequency. It's helped a lot to disrupt Palace's block
