The Chinese Government has denied conducting espionage in the UK/is a threat to UK interests. In June 2025, spokesperson for China’s London Embassy said “such accusations are entirely fabricated, malicious slander”.

Environment Agency estimates by 2050 there will be a ~5bn litre of water shortfall per day, equivalent to over 1/3 of current water supply available for public consumption.

Information re England only, as water a devolved policy matter, however challenges of water scarcity exist across all the UK.
