Hi Richard, my #5DebutAlbums8084 top 5
An absolutely brilliant 5 year period of ground-breaking debut albums
1 Orange Juice
2 The Smiths
3 THE THE
4 Altered Images
5 Prefab Sprout

Just missing out Lloyd Cole
HM:- ABC, New Order, The Beat, UB40,
REM, Aztec Camera, Blue Nile, David Sylvian, D.Fagen
From Her To Eternity? Firstborn is the second album
I haven't decided on which one. Difficult choices to make.
You could say. I was only 19 at the time.
That's a shame Drew, I had about 8 more lined to do.
Disappointed I missed out on a couple of these challenges
The B-side is great as well. I bought it when it was first released as 7 inch.

Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever

Anyone who looks at my profile, will realise how much this LP means to me. I don't think James Kirk gets enough credit and when he left the band a lot of that magic disappeared.
My No.1

three of these are vying for my top 5 (excl Blancmange). This is a really tough group.
This is in my top 5 albums of all time. I saw the original line-up a number of times in the early 80s. Tender Object and In A Nutshell are my favs. I have never heard anything said about how important James Kirk was to the band and they weren't the same after he left.

Long Ryders - Native Sons (1984).

Brilliant, punky update on the folk, jangle & country rock of The Byrds. I Had A Dream is a total banger & Ivory Tower features a real life Byrd in Gene Clark.
This is their third album but of course the first one under their
revamped line-up.
I don't know any of these albums. I will have to check them out.
