If your plots are getting tangled and your characters are falling flat then your readers won't have a good time. A developmental edit will give you the tools you need to free your fantasy novel of inconsistencies and strengthen your writing style.

In October, I will be running the Yorkshire Marathon and I will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support while I train. 98% of Macmillan's funding comes from people like you who donate to campaigns just like this one. My fundraising goal is £450.

I am raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and also happen to be running a marathon. You might see me chatter about it here in the coming months. But here is a link to my fundraising page! www.justgiving.com/page/aimee-h...

I’m embracing my inner Stardew Valley. Carrots and beetroot are planted. Time to dig a fresh bed for the onions! Seriously, the early game toil with rusty tools and an energy bar that lasts three minutes is so real!

Labyrinth by Kate Mosse uses POV and its massive cast creatively to position you in the most relevant moment in each scene. Is this something you should try?

My fatal flaw is viewing every major annually reoccurring event as a New Year and setting a goal for the next twelve months.
Just a girl and her flask of tea against the world ☕️

Feeling very excited to be at the London Book Fair this week! Join me on my journey, via Cambridge for a quick half marathon (optional)...

I enjoy reading books that aren’t my typical taste to see why so many other people love them so much. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas is one of these. What can writers learn about genre and plot beats.

I've been swept up in a reading frenzy for the past 5ish weeks which I love. But Labyrinth has near enough squashed my enthusiasm. It's just not for me! Got to find a palette cleanser. 💙📚
Right! What business does it have! (The synopsis is equally gorgeous. I cannot wait to read it.)
I don't normally buy hardbacks, let alone special editions. But look at this! It was the silver foil on white that won me over. 📚🪐💙
That and I can see the sprayed/gilt edges for once 😍 I hope your books are bringing you joy, however ordered or orderless they are!
Mine are currently stacked up on my desk and the floor because there was damp on the walls 😭 At least it gives me the opportunity to put them back in a thoughtful order.
Never mind. It's gorgeous and it's mine.
I'm going to be brave and buy the eBook of Water Moon instead of the Waterstones special edition hardback with foil endpapers and edges and the most stunning presentation box. 😭
It has so many Tumblr-worthy, highlightable quotes as well. It's about video games. But it's also about life. Honestly, if I'd had this growing up I might be a different person. Or at least would have had a super aesthetic blog.
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is a brilliant example of how you can use an unreliable narrator to your advantage in your writing.

AJ Editorial Services is four years old! I can’t believe how far I have come. 2024 was my most successful business year by every metric.

If the coming year holds more of the same, incredible authors and amazing community of editors around me, then I will be delighted.

My approach to New Year’s resolutions is unsustainably maximalist. But rather than throwing my long list of silly thoughts at you, I’ve picked three to share with you.

My last goal is cheating a bit since I already have some excellent manuscripts booked in!

Book post! It was actually my husband's order, but I couldn't resist this adorable little book.
That's beautiful! Books carry stories in so many ways than just one.
I love this approach. I actually love sitcoms for their ability to boil down a storytelling technique to its core!
