As we celebrate #WorldAIDSDay, we spotlight AHPN’s Community Engagement Officer shares her journey of living with HIV.
Did you know these HIV facts:
According to the National AIDS Trust:
Black African people make up 28.4% of all new HIV diagnoses in the UK even though they account for less than 3% of the population.
64.1 % of newly diagnosed Black African individuals are women.  @nationalaidstrust.bsky.social
I celebrate 25 years of living with HIV. I am a success story. I did it all, I saw it all and I even got myself a t-shirt! This is the changing face of HIV”.

I speak confidently about HIV. I am healthy. I am confident. I am empowered. I am equipped to live independently with the virus. I have gained new friends along the way. Today I celebrate life, I salute science, I salute services for us.
“My scars are a true reflection of the battles I fought, the countless buckets of tears I have cried, the numerous hospital visits, the friends I lost along the way, the shame I endured due to HIV. Today I stand victorious; unashamed as I have squeezed all the lemons to make lemonade.
