If anything bringing up Dresden, a thing that only seriously gets brought up as a way for Germans to claim that they too were victims of the war and why they generally don't tend to, just makes the argument unserious.

Dresden was going specifically against one of the main railheads in Germany and the main source for it being notoriously overkill is a guy who it turns out was a closet neonazi.

Of the big catholic writers in the US, I'm pretty sure Bruening is the only one on either side of the spectrum who actually fully embraces papal infallibility which is no small part of the reason why it feels like her politics are those of a thoroughly broken mind from trying to square that circle.
